Hon Friday Sanni Call On Kogi State House of Assembly To Endorse The School To School Peace Initiative (Spi) Nigeria (An Ngo) And An Appeal To The State Government To Collaborate With The Ngo For Its Efforts In Creating Awareness And Sensitisation Against Cultism

The Rt. Hon. Speaker, distinguished Hon. Colleagues; this House has severally condemned cultism and has further gone ahead in proposing and passing a bill outlawing cultism.
The activities of cultism, engendering vices and criminality, are continually perpetrated despite stiffer penalty on the individual upon conviction. Cultism is cancerous and its cells are the most terrible diseases ever in every society.

Whereas, the need to curb these diseases cannot but be emphasized as it continues to escalate. Not too long ago, some young boys were killed here in Lokoja and their corpses dumped into River Niger because of cultic reprisal.
Whereas, the School to School Peace Initiative (SPI) is a non-governmental organisation drawing funds from donor agencies to create awareness, sensitize the public against the evil of cultism and rehabilitate the confessed cultists in the society. The NGO has traverse the length and breadth of this country in those regards.
Therefore, be it resolved by this august House to endorse the NGO as a project of the State on the fight against cultism and appeal to the State Government to collaborate with the NGO in achieving the desired goal while looking at the escalating tendencies of cultism.

I so moved.
Dated this 10th day of November, 2016.
