Millennium development goals(MDGs) now Sustainable development goals(SDGs) are two projects acronym designed by the federal government aimed at bridging the gap of providing sociol amenities to the rural areas in line with the social contract existing between the leaders of our third world countries and the massess.
Infact it is a global language adopted by the superpowers and replicated by African countries to bridge the gap and the inabiltiy of local,state and ferderal authorities efforts at bringing basic social needs of its citizens
The workability of this program became imperative owing to the tripartite arrangement and agreement between the three tiers of government through counterpart funding and deployemet of social safety nets in the last one decade on a yearly basis which consolidated into the latter acronym from "Millenium" to "sustainable"
Development partners embrace the aforementioned programs with transparent modus operandi in place from the top to the bottom level through census of the required social provisions in the area of education,health,provision of water and other human needs to arrest famine,drought,disease and other attendant social vices
All states of the federation including kogi state have all the years adhered strictly to the norms,provision,practice and requiremets of the goals surrounding the project through strict surveillance and unimpeccable actions untill the coming of yahaya bello as the governor of kogi state in 2016
Under normal rules,contracts for projects are advertised,prospective contractors are required to bid with their various company names which include a fee of between 20,000,50,000,to 100,000 while succesful names are shortlisted in a transparent manner and various jobs awarded based on the capacity of applicants companies,but the reverse was the case in kogi in this dispensation
This time over 1000 applicants bidded for the jobs and 250 people were actually cleared as succesul companies expecting to do business with the state but the juicy ones that boarders on the provision of primary healthcare were reserved in the office of power that be and favorites are reached via sms a norm different from what is provided and required by the goals and public procurement act
This was do able in connivance with SA,SDG to kogi governor without the consent of technocrats even within the organisation,a process that portrays outright nepotism,red tapism ,sectionalism,inept corruption,inducement,uncouth attitude to redirect the original goals of the project to the benefit of the entire kogi state by the state governemt
The height of maladministration is the subtle conclusion in connivance with the power that be in lokoja
We call on the federal authorities even though compromised to unravel this misdeeds through a high level investigative team to unfold the authenticity or otherwise of this action of the present administration of governor yahaya bello and to possibly sanction the state through direct supervision of the program in the state and all other joint state and federal projects as this will be replicated in other programs like UBEC/SUBEB and other critcal ones.Enough is enough in kogi state
